Sonia took her first beginners Iyengar yoga course in 1995 when she was 18 years old, she loved the shapes the body made and and magically falling asleep in savasana!
During University years, and overseas backpacking, a spiritual longing lovingly flourished. Motherhood and building a home sent roots down in beautiful Denmark in 2007. At this time yoga became a regular practice, a passion and going beyond a physical exercise, yoga became a 'blue-print' for living a vital and centred life.
In 2015 at a 200hr teacher training in Bali, as if by magic, a switch was flicked and after being a dedicated student for 20 years, she began facilitating regular yoga classes in Denmark as a very humble teacher.
Continuing professional development has seen her complete more trainings with Tias Little, Prajna Yoga and Gwyn Williams, Zenthai Flow.
Sonia is now immersed in long term Iyengar teacher training in mentorship with Kellie Brett at MYoga in Fremantle.
Full circle, coming back to Iyengar yoga, finding a lineage, sangha and an even greater love for the art, science and practice of yoga.
Sonia is devoted to lifelong learning. Inspired by Taoism, poetry, ritual process and women's cycles. And her two greatest teachers, her children.
The dream of owning a dedicated space to teach yoga in Denmark was realised in 2018, opening Denmark Yoga Centre

What is Iyengar yoga?
Classes with Sonia are taught in the lineage of Iyengar yoga.
Founded by B.K.S. Iyengar, who is credited to bringing yoga to the West, it is based on the 8 Limbs of Patanjali from two millennia ago.
Now, for more than 80 years this method has become a tried and true approach to yoga and values accessibility for all levels, including beginners and those with physical limitations.
One of the key features of Iyengar yoga is the use of props such as bricks, straps, blankets, and bolsters. They aren’t crutches, but help practitioners deepen their experience of the poses.
Alignment, timing, sequencing and props set Iyengar yoga apart from other yoga styles.
Sonia’s detailed instructions and practical guidance are dedicated to you discovering an awareness of your own abilities, helping you to overcome limitations and blockages and helping you to move into the best version of you.
